About Ridge Ave.
Circle of Hope is a community of people held together by our commitment of love to God and each other. We are resisting divisiveness and individualism to be the family of God, expressing the love of Christ through our life together. You don’t have to have it all worked out to be included. We value honesty and dialogue, without judgment. Even in our meetings, there is room to talk back! We sing original music and people share their gifts in a variety of ways. Together, we form a unique expression of the church in this time and place.
We are the newest congregation of Circle of Hope, but we have history here. Long term residents and new Philly transplants together form the stability of this community. It is a good place to be known and loved into your fullness. The children among us are no exception. We parent as a village, sharing resources and supporting each other. The relationships that form are stabilizing and meaningful, and provide a rich environment in which faith, hope and love can grow.
Meet Our Pastor
I’ve been a part of the leadership team of Circle of Hope for many years, leading cells and cell leaders and serving as the Lead Cell Leader Coordinator for the whole church. I’m also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, most recently working in hospice.
I received a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. I’ve lived in Germantown for 13 years. My husband Steve and I have two children. They can often be found with their neighbors enjoying the many green spaces in the Northwest Philly.
What To Expect
Where is it?
We meet in the Parish Hall of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, across the street from Roxborough Memorial Hospital. The building is half a block up from Walnut Lane/Shurs Lane. To find the Parish Hall, enter through the red double doors that face Ridge Ave. and go up one flight of steps.
What’s it like?
It’s an opportunity to explore and express God’s love. Take advantage of what you can. There’s usually singing to get us together and our hearts moving toward God in worship. There’s a speech when the pastor or someone else engages us in ways we can do that exploring and expressing. Often there’s a chance to talk back with questions and stories. It’s all up for grabs.
Don’t feel like you have to do anything. Come as you are, be as you are, and see what God does.
There is ample street parking available on both sides of Ridge Ave.
Both the 9 and the 65 Bus run on Ridge Ave.
Kids age 6 mos. through 3rd grade get to hang out with our team of dedicated caregivers and teachers. They get a snack and have fun, leaving their parents free to fully participate in the meeting. Third and Fourth graders participate with the adults in part of the meeting, and then are dismissed for time with each other and a teacher to process what they have seen and heard.
After and before our meetings we hang out with snacks to create community and conspire for goodness. Come early or stay after to join us.
