Desolations and Consolations of 2020: our laments and praises from this year (Ep 25)

Episode 25: Desolations and Consolations of 2020: our laments and praises from this year

Starting off with some talkback, the pastors respond to a listener thinking through communal repentance. The pastors explore the power of community in the work toward wholeness and reconciliation, how being seen is important in the work of restoration.

Next up, the big topic! A little like the Daily Examen by Ignatius Loyola, a process involving looking over your day and praying about it with God, the pastors do a Yearly Examen, recounting the year’s desolations and consolations. From the tragedy of police shootings and isolation to the miracles of Birthday Parades and baptisms, they dive in to ponder this roller coaster of a year and all the things to lament and praise.

To wrap up the time, some Show and Tell: Evan Mawarire and his revelations in jail, Michelangelo’s Pietà, Andrew Yang’s music, returning to the invitation of Advent every day.
