TurnUp to BailOut a big success (and in Philly Trib!)

We raised nearly $5,000 to bail out Black mothers and fathers before the holiday season! After months of planning we got to enjoy music, eat delicious food, connect with new friends, and create this $4,783 donation to the Philadelphia Community Bail Fund.

Nearly 2/3 of the approximately 6,700 people in Philadelphia jails are still awaiting trial, helping our city to have the 4th highest incarceration rate among the largest 50 US cities. Many are still locked up because they do not have the cash to pay bail. While cities like Washington DC have already done away with cash bail, Philadelphia might not be far behind. Failure to pay bail leads to higher conviction rates and criminalizes being poor and costs taxpayers unnecessarily.

Interested in donating to the cause and weren’t able to make it? You can continue donating by going to circleofhope.net/sharing, clicking the PayPal link and designating “TurnUp to BailOut” in the memo.
