Village Parenting at Circle of Hope

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
 Matthew 19:14

Children and teens are a vital part of our community. We welcome them as Jesus did and understand that we can learn from them, even as we teach and train them in the way and mission of Jesus. We want them to know Jesus, to be part of the community, and to give what they are able to give. We believe that they will learn more by what we do than by what we say. The environment in Christ we create is a main teacher. We call this approach Village Parenting. We strive to create a rich environment of God’s loving presence through the practices of community, sharing God’s story, worship, prayer and service. This extends well beyond Sundays. It is the 24/7 life of the body that instructs them more than anything.

What to expect at our Sunday meetings

During our Sunday Meetings at 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. we provide childcare for babies and toddler (ages 6 months to 3-year-olds) and an age appropriate kid’s meetings for 3-year-olds through early elementary age that helps engage them with fun, their own sense of community and Bible stories. All of our amazing volunteers have been properly screened.

Children are always welcome to accompany their parents to the adult meeting. If they become disruptive their parents take them elsewhere. Children who are in fourth grade and older attend the meeting with everyone else. They are also welcome in cells as each cell decides if they can facilitate the special needs of children. Teens are especially ready to enter into the life of a cell. Many of our teens begin participating in a cell by the age of 15.
